Parker: „A strong effort from this well-run estate, Pichon Baron’s 2006 exhibits an inky/purple color as well as a sweet, pure nose of black currants, cedar, and smoky new oak. Full-bodied with ripe tannin, impressive concentration, and a layered mouthfeel, this is another noteworthy offering from an estate that has been remarkably successful over the last 15+ years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025+. 92-94 Punkte.”
Tanzer: „(70% cabernet sauvignon, 28% merlot and 2% cabernet franc; 13.2% alcohol) Very good deep ruby-red color. Pure, rich aromas of cassis, minerals and dark chocolate. Suave, intensely flavored and vinous, with ripe acids giving energy to the dense currant and menthol flavors. Vibrant and firmly built but not austere. Finishes with ripe, toothcoating tannins (the IPT is a high 83) and lovely lingering sweetness. This has a sizable structure for the year, and terrific potential longevity, but does not come across as musclebound today. 91-93 points.”
Jancis Robinson: "70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc. 56% of the production went into the grand vin (just about average) from the same terroirs every year. Thick and dense colour. Scented, sleek, dry, compact. Bit of mulberry. Very high IPT at 83 but it doesn’t taste like it. Masses of inky stuff but pretty mellow too – fine and silky texture. Well done because there is freshness too. Very slightly dry on the finish – certainly not voluptuous but actually quite supple. No greenness. 17,5++/20 Punkten.”
René Gabriel, WeinWisser: „Dunkles Violett-Lila. Klares Cabernet-Frucht-Bouquet, recht fein im Ansatz, Palisandernoten, carter Rauchtouch, die Tiefe anzeigend. Hoch feiner Gaumen, Lakritznoten, sattes, fleischiges Extrakt in der Mitte, trotz der Eleganzauch eine tolle Rasse zeigend, lange endend, genial wie der 1998er, kann 19/20 erreichen. 18/20 Punkten.
